DOVER, Del. (AP)- A Delaware man convicted of murdering his former girlfriend has lost a bid to have his life prison sentence commuted
The state Board of Pardons rejected Glenn E. MacDonald's commutation request at a hearing Wednesday.
MacDonald was arrested in 1990 and charged with killing Julie Spencer, who was beaten and strangled.
MacDonald's first trial ended in a hung jury. He was found guilty at a second trial in 1993. While awaiting sentencing, he was charged with trying to hire a hit man to kill a witness who also was originally a suspect in Spencer's death and later testified against MacDonald.
