SALISBURY, Md.-  Paying for dental expenses can be as painful as pulling out a tooth. Mission of Mercy is a free adult clinic that is provided by volunteer dental professionals.  In a couple of weeks the organization is holding a clinic in Wicomico County.

"The fear factor sets in and they don't want to go to the dentist," said Dr. Debra Welsh, of Salisbury.

For some the pain from the dental bill is worse than the actual extraction.

"Extractions could also range in the hundred dollars range for a single tooth," Welsh said.

But dentists, like Dr. Welsh, are part of a group called Maryland Mission of Mercy.
It's goal? To help you face your dental fears, one cavity at a time, with the help of a dental clinic.

"The clinic will be free to adults only, because children are afforded free dental care in Maryland," said Maryland Mission of Mercy chairman Dick Van Gelder.

Gelder says you can come knock out any dental need. Even that stubborn wisdom tooth.

"Cleanings to oral surgery, to root canals, to fillings; we offer a broad array of dental services to people who may really need it," Gelder said.

Over one hundred dentist will suit up and work for absolutely free.

"This is an opportunity for us to give back to the community beyond what has already been done," Welsh said.

Welsh says you won't feel a thing.

"Dentistry has come a long way with local anesthesia, it can be provided in a very painless environment," Welsh said.

The clinic will be on March 15-16 at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
