YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its Players of the Week and the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team took both Offensive and Defensive players of the week, the league announced Monday.
Senior Lauren Feusahrens was honored this week as Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore Bethany Baer was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week, as each excelled on the field in an 18-7 win over No. 10 Catholic University of America this past Saturday.
Feusahrens paced the Sea Gull attack with five goals and two assists against the Cardinals. The attacker also picked up three ground balls and forced three turnovers, one each which led to instant offense for the Sea Gulls. In two games this season, the Solomons, Md., native has a team-leading 10 points, with a team-high seven goals. Feusahrens is tied for the team lead in assists with classmate Katie Bollhorst.
Baer had arguably the best all-around game of her career against the Cardinals. The sophomore midfielder set career highs in goals (four), ground balls (five) and caused turnovers (four). The Westminster, Md., native also matched her career best with five points in the contest.
Baer and Feusahrens led the balanced attack against Catholic that gave Head Coach Jim Nestor his 200th win at the helm of the Salisbury program.
The Sea Gulls head to Lexington, Va., a week from today, March 9, to faceoff against Washington and Lee University. That contest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
