ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va.- Virginia State Police say they believe two late Monday night fires in Accomack County are the work of an arsonist.

Police said they got the first call about a fire at around 10 p.m. at an abandoned, single-story home, located at the 25200 block of Savageville Road in Onancock.

Authorities said the fire damaged a majority of the building, but no injuries were reported.

Police said the second fire was spotted shortly after the first one by VSP aircraft at around 11 p.m. This fire happened at an abandoned two-story home on the 26900 block of Whites Crossing Road in Mears, according to police.

Police said the structure sustained major fire damage, but no injuries were reported.

Through initial investigation, police say both fires appear to have been intentionally set. State police are investigating both incidents.

Monday night's two fires bring to 60 the number of confirmed arsons in Accomack County since mid-November.

Police, once again, urge the public to come forward with any information that can assist in solving any of these arsons. There continues to be a $25,000 reward offered to any information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
