Senior lacrosse player Bennett Cord (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) is this week's Shoreman of the Week. Cord scored three goals and assisted on another to reach 100 career points during the Shoremen's 8-4 win over Washington and Lee Saturday.
Cord's three goals all came in the third quarter, turning a 2-1 halftime lead for the Shoremen into a 5-1 cushion. He became the first Shoreman to reach 100 career points since 2008. The Shoremen's win over the Generals was their first in five years.
Emily Hubley & Mollie Shipley- Shorewoman of the Week
Lacrosse teammates Emily Hubley (West Chester, PA/Bayard Rustin) and Mollie Shipley (Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic) share this week's Shorewoman of the Week honors. Both had historic days in the Shorewomen's 17-6 win over Rowan Saturday.
Hubley, a sophomore, controlled a school-record and Centennial Conference record-tying 11 draws in the win. The previous school record of 10 had stood for 15 years. She also scored two goals and assisted on two others. She was named the Centennial Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
Shipley handed out a school record-tying seven assists in the victory to go along with one goal. The school record had stood unmatched for 30 years. She also surpassed 100 career points during the win, becoming the 21st player in team history to do so.
