(Photo: MGN)HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP)- The Maryland State Highway Administration says it has 2,300 crews patrolling and treating state roads with salt as a winter storm moves through the region.
The agency says it expects the snow to intensify during the day, adding to accumulations that were measured Wednesday morning. There was about 7 inches of snow in Keysers Ridge in the western Maryland mountains and 2 to 3 inches in central Maryland.
Spokeswoman Lora Rakowski snowfall amounts may vary greatly from place to place. Intense snow and high winds could affect visibility, especially in central and northwestern Maryland
Rakowski says officials are urging people not to travel on Wednesday and to keep the roads clear for snow plow drivers.
No major incidents had been reported Wednesday morning.
