GLEN ALLEN, Va.- Eight Washington College field hockey players have been named to the 2012 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Academic Squad, two of whom received the additional honor of being named a Scholar of Distinction. In addition, the Shorewomen have received an NFHCA Division III Academic Team Award.
Student-athletes selected for the Academic Squad have been nominated by their coaches and have attained a minimum overall grade-point average of at least 3.30 through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. Student-athletes named as Scholars of Distinction have been nominated by their coaches and have attained a minimum overall grade-point average of at least 3.90 through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. Programs receiving an Academic Team Award achieved a team grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
Freshmen Emily Eline (Jarrettsville, MD/North Harford) and Jocelyn Faro(Arnold, MD/Broadneck) were named Scholars of Distinction as well as landing on the Academic Squad. Senior Gabby Tarbert (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) made the Academic Squad for the fourth straight year, while sophomoreKate Duggan (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Academy of the New Church) earned the honor for the second year in a row. Freshmen Sadie Robertston (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township), Michaela Quigley (Lincoln University, PA/Oxford), freshmen Jordan Mitchell (Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County), and Sydney Sikon (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) were each named to the Academic Squad for the first time.
