Seaford School Bus Crash Injures 6 Students

Posted: Updated:

SEAFORD, Del. Delaware State Police say six children were sent to the hospital after a school bus became stuck in a farm field.

Troopers said that at around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, 41-year-old Susan M. Burgess of Magnolia was driving a bus southeast on Cool Branch Road and entering a curve west of Kaye Road when, for unknown reasons, the bus left the road while going into a curve. The bus reportedly became stuck in the mud of a farm field.

Troopers said six students from the Seaford School District were transported by emergency medical services to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The students range in age from 10 to 17, according to police.

Burgess, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the crash. She was cited for failure to maintain a single lane and no proof of insurance.
