Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md.- Salisbury police are conducting an accident investigation after a suspect being chased by officers was killed Thursday night.

Investigators said that at around 10:15 p.m., officers tried to make a routine traffic stop in the area of Camden Avenue near North Boulevard.

Police say the suspect did not stop the vehicle and police chased the suspect in their car.

Authorities say the pursuit ended when the suspect crashed the vehicle on Camden Avenue near Pine Bluff Road.

The driver was the only person in the car and police say the driver was killed as a result of the impact.

Maryland State Police originally were investigating the accident, but the investigation has since been turned over to the Salisbury Police Department.
