ONLEY, Va.- Virginia State Police have been blazing through the streets of Accomack County,
looking for the person or persons behind the 64 arson fires all across the county.

"We are seeking some information on the arson in Accomack County, if someone has any information I need them to let us know please," said a State Trooper who wanted to remain anonymous as he handed a flyer to a driver.

On Saturday police said they have split the county in half, creating only one way in and one way out.

They are hoping drivers will give tips and leads to authorities.

Police were handing out a piece of paper with the tip hotline number and an explanation of the reward.

WBOC spoke with Burke Landon on Friday, when the abandoned two-story building across the street from his home was burned to the ground.

"In the late afternoon, early evening, I've spotted police in unmarked cars," said Landon, of Temperanceville. "I guess they are patrolling the neighborhood."

But Landon said the extra patrol is not good enough.

"Because you know it is a matter of time before another fire happens," said Landon.

Police say they hope to have leads before another home goes up in flames.

"Last night there was so many cops out doing the road stops, he [arsonist/s] probably thought 'well this might be a good night to stay home', " said Landon.

Since the increased police surveillance, there have been no arson fires reported.

Landon said he's convince the police are getting one step closer to an arrest.

"If anyone seen anything they would come forward," said Landon.

Anyone with information is asked to text, call or email the tip line at (757) 655-1437.
