ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP)- The man who makes the decision to close Maryland's Bay Bridge says the closure during last week's winter storm was a success.

Gordon Garrettson said that there was no structural damage to the bridge, and there were no serious injuries or fatalities. He said, "As far as we're concerned - that's a win."

A tractor-trailer overturned on the bridge Wednesday afternoon about a half-hour before the bridge was closed because wind speeds reached 55 mph. The bridge was under wind restrictions at the time, and authorities are investigating whether the truck was permitted to drive on the span.

Garrettson is the facility administrator for the bridge. He and his team have closed the span six times since January 2012.
