LANCASTER, Pa.– Washington College junior second baseman Nick Marinelli (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) has been named the Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week the ending on March 10 by the conference office. This is the first time that Marinelli has won the conference's baseball player of the week award.
The junior, who had a hit in all five games last week, batted .571 and went 8-for-14 in five games with the Shoremen with six stolen bases. He led the team in runs (8), hits (8), doubles (4), total bases (12), slugging (.857) and on-base (.684). He also tied for the team lead in walks with four and second in RBI with six. Against Becker in the second game on March 10, Marinelli went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI with a walk and a stolen base. In the first game versus Becker, he scored three runs with a hit and RBI, while drawing three walks and stealing a pair of bases. Versus Suffolk on March 9, stole two bases and had two hits with a run scored. In the FDU-Florham game on March 9, he had two doubles, scored a run and plated a run. On March 5 at Cairn, he had one hit, two RBI, one run scored, reached on a hit-by-pitch and stole a base.
The Shoremen (4-4) play in Leesburg, FL tomorrow morning at 10:30 versus St. Norbert.
