Hartly Woman Charged with DUI After Car Crash

HARTLY, Del.- A Hartly woman is facing DUI charges after crashing her car early Sunday morning.

According to Delaware State Police, Monica Tegano, 32, was operating a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue eastbound on Halltown Road, when she failed to negotiate a left turn, and traveled off the south side of the roadway. Subsequently, police said Tegano's vehicle struck a mailbox, and then an electrical pole. Police said the car then overturned numerous times, before coming to a stop in a wooded area.

Officials said emergency personnel removed Tegano from the vehicle and transported her to Kent General Hospital, where she is being treated for unknown injuries.

Halltown Road east of Brittney Lane was closed for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

Tegano was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, inattentive driving, failure to remain in a single lane and no proof of insurance.
