WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say property was taken from a woman's home after she let in a man who claimed he worked for a water company.
It happened about 5 p.m. Sunday in Wilmington. Troopers say a man knocked on a woman's door and claimed to be from a water company and said he needed to check the basement.
The woman and the man went to the basement and afterward, he left. Police say the woman noticed items missing from her home and say an accomplice took the property.
Troopers are reminding residents to ask for identification before allowing an unexpected worker to enter one's home.
