Gun Sales Booming in Sussex County

Posted: Updated:

DAGSBORO, Del.- As politicians in Maryland and Delaware continue to discuss stricter gun control, gun shop owners in Sussex County are watching firearm sales skyrocket.

Mark Derrickson, who owns M&L Gun Shop in Dagsboro, says customers are coming in from Delaware and across the state border.

"I get a lot of Maryland customers. They can buy rifles and shotguns tax-free over here in Delaware," Derrickson said.

Customers like Frank Castano in Lewes are having a difficult time finding gun products.

"You go around to different gun shops and can't find ammunition," says Castano.

There's no telling what effect new gun control laws would have on gun shops on Delmarva, but for now, they're cashing in.
