CRISFIELD, Md. (AP) - Police in Crisfield who moved into a former bank building after Hurricane Sandy damaged the police station's roof won't be making the bank a permanent home.
Crisfield Mayor Percy Purnell blocked the idea of a permanent move from going to the city council for a vote. Some residents saw a permanent move as a good idea because the bank building has a vault and bulletproof windows.
But Purnell said the move would be too expensive, especially when the city has a $83,000 budget deficit.
Purnell says police won't return to their building until repairs are made. He said a new roof and other repairs would be paid for by insurance.
