STARKVILLE, Miss.– The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its latest Top 25 poll and the Salisbury University softball team made the biggest jump in this week's poll, leaping seven spots to No. 10 in the nation.
The Sea Gulls (16-2) won four times this past weekend in the Salisbury Invitational, defeating the State University of New York at Cortland twice, Capital University and Ithaca College by a combined score of 32-2.
Salisbury claimed 120 points in this week's poll, doubling their point total from a week ago. The Sea Gulls are just six points behind the University of Redlands, which sits at No. 9.
The top seven teams remained unchanged with Montclair State University retaining its hold of the No. 1 ranking and is a unanimous choice with all eight first-place votes and 200 points. Emory University (191 points), the University of Texas at Tyler (185), Illinois Wesleyan University (175) and Trine University (169) round out the top five.
Salisbury returns to action next Wednesday, March 27, in a doubleheader at No. 24 Christopher Newport University. The first game is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
