A new web site, http://www.practicalalzheimers.com, informed by medical opinion and patient experience, has been launched to provide practical advice and support to people affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

(PRWEB) March 20, 2013

With a strong focus on information for the Alzheimer’s carer community, the web site covers topics such as traveling safely in the snow; keeping people with Alzheimer’s safe in the home; dealing with mealtimes; the benefits of pet therapy; and techniques for avoiding a condition often called caregiver burnout.

The web site features real life stories from the Alzheimer’s community. In one of the first contributions to the site, an author recalls how she persuaded a family member with Alzheimer’s to stop driving and gives her recommendations for others faced with a similar situation.

In April, the web site will focus on ‘Getting out and about with Alzheimer’s’, featuring advice and patient stories on driving, public transport and the loss of independence.
