Family Forum, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation that provides Head Start and Early Head Start programs for children and their families. Family Forum, Inc. Head Start partners with families and communities to build school readiness for all children. Applications are being accepted in the Douglas, Ashland, Bayfield, Iron and Price Counties of northern Wisconsin.
Family Forum, Inc.’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs are federal and state funded programs that provide children in northwestern Wisconsin with opportunities to learn and grow in a fun, exciting, and safe environment. Head Start assists in the development of social competence so preschoolers will be ready for and successful in school.
Highly-trained classroom teachers and home visitors provide the best possible education for your infant, toddler or preschooler. Teachers at Family Forum develop specific activities for each child to meet his or her individual developmental needs. This includes children with diagnosed disabilities or special needs.
Center-based learning is for children between the ages of 3 and 5. These children participate in learning activities at the Head Start center during either a morning or afternoon session. Nutritional meals and snacks are provided each day. Meals are served family-style and are used as a learning experience for children. Children also learn to set tables and clean-up. The Head Start school bus will pick up and drop off your child when enrolled in the center-based program.
Home-based learning is available to children (and their families) prenatal through age 5 years. A highly trained home visitor comes to your home for one-and-one-half hours each week offering family support. Along with the home visitor’s support, your child will benefit from fun learning activities. Parent/child days are held twice a month for group learning opportunities for children and parents, which are a vital part of the home-based option.
Community Preschool Program (4K) is offered for eligible children who are 4 years old by September 1. DPI licensed teachers use WI Model Early Learning Standards 5 days a week. Dual enrollment is offered in Superior, Brule and Phillips, WI.
Parent involvement and training opportunities are offered. Family Forum, Inc. Head Start and Early Head Start prepares your child for a lifetime of learning.
