MAPPSVILLE, Va.- Fire crews have responded to yet another fire in Accomack County. The latest blaze broke out at around 10:39 p.m. Thursday at an abandoned one-story house on the 1500 block of Metompkin Road in Mappsville.

Several fire companies responded to the fire. There were no reported injuries. Officials said the fire got very close to the woods, requiring the use of a brush truck.

Late Friday morning Virginia State Police confirmed the fire as arson.

Seventy-two fires have been set on the Eastern Shore of Virginia since mid-November.

State police are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
