CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Salisbury University sophomore pitcher Rachel Johnson earned Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Pitcher of the Week, the organization announced.
Johnson made three appearances, in which she went 3-0, in Salisbury's four games last week, with two starts. She earned two shutouts against Capital University and Ithaca College for seven total on the season.
In Salisbury's (16-2) first contest against the State University of New York at Cortland, Johnson entered the circle in the fourth inning with the Sea Gulls down by two and kept the Red Dragons off balance, allowing the SU offense to come back and earn the win 8-2.
The Preston, Md., native pitched 15 1/3 shutout innings this past week, walking two, allowing eight hits and striking out 30.
Salisbury (16-2) will take a brief hiatus in action and return to the field on March 27, when they head down to No. 24 Christopher Newport University to take on the Captains in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
