SEAFORD, Del. - Delaware State Police said that a Laurel man was arrested on Friday after threatening two people with a knife and leading police on a pursuit.

The incident began around 1 a.m. as a 58-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were outside of a home in the 25000 block of Park Circle in Seaford.

They spotted a blue Jeep Wrangler driving along the street and the woman mistakenly believing the Jeep was being driven be a friend, tapped the horn of her vehicle.

The Jeep stopped in front of the residence and 48-year-old Patrick Price of Laurel, came  out of the car with a knife in his hand.

Police said Price yelled at the man and the woman as they ran. Price then reentered the Jeep and quickly drove away.

A Trooper responding to this incident spotted the Jeep traveling south on Sussex Highway.

When the Jeep turned onto Waller Road, the trooper attempted to stop the car but it continued traveling along Waller Road and then made a right turn into a wheat field.

The car exited the field and drove onto Boyce Road. Price drove on Boyce and Waller Roads and through the wheat field, numerous times as he tried to elude police.

While doing this, his Jeep struck a State Police vehicle, causing minor damage. It also caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to the wheat crop.

Police said that eventually, Price drove to his residence in the 10000 block of Waller Road and began to run.

Officers from assisting agencies chased Price and were able to capture and restrain him after a lengthy struggle that included two unsuccessful Taser deployments.

Price is charged with fourth offense driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of aggravated menacing, criminal mischief over $5,000, resisting arrest with force or violence, disregarding a police officer's signal, offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, two counts of criminal mischief under $1,000, driving while suspended or revoked, and numerous traffic offenses.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on $17,250 cash bail.
