Twelve Livestock Dead After Fire


WESTOVER, Md. - Twelve livestock, that include cows and pigs, are dead after a fire in Somerset County.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office reports the fire happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 9000 block of James Ring Road in Westover.

Investigators say the fire was accidental and caused by a juvenile playing with a lighter.

It took 60 firefighters about an hour to put out the fire in the steel agricultural building.

Firefighters from Fairmount, Princess Anne, Marion, Crisfield, Deal Island and Pocomoke responded to the scene.

Damage is estimated at $300,000.
