UPDATE: Police Questioning Second Suspect in Accomack Arsons

UPDATE (9:36am): Virginia State Police confirm a second person is in police custody for questioning following the overnight fire in Melfa and the arrest of Tonya S. Bundick of Parksley this morning.

MEFLA, Va. - Virginia State Police confirm one person was arrested and faces charges in connection with an overnight fire in Melfa.

Police say thanks to the joint, hardworking efforts of the Accomack County Sheriff's Office, State Police apprehended an Eastern Shore resident early this morning and charged her in connection with an arson set Monday night in Melfa.

Tonya S. Bundick, 40, of Parksley, was taken into custody without incident following a traffic stop just after midnight Tuesday morning near an arson set at a vacant residence on Airport Drive in Melfa.

This fire was discovered at 11:40 p.m. Monday night.

The Melfa Volunteer Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire, so there was minimal damage to the building.

Bundick has been charged with one felony count of arson and one felony count conspiracy to commit arson.

She is being held without bond at the Accomack County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
