DNREC’s DuPont Nature Center to Host 2013 Volunteer Orientation Day

SLAUGHTER BEACH, Del.– The DuPont Nature Center at Mispillion Harbor Reserve will host its annual Volunteer Orientation Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 at the center.

Perched on the edge of Mispillion Harbor at the confluence of the Mispillion River and Cedar Creek, the DuPont Nature Center at Mispillion Harbor Reserve, a DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife facility, regularly offers a variety of interactive exhibits, school tours and educational programs.  

Volunteers are needed to interact with visitors, assist with tours and educational programs, attend outreach events to promote the center, and assist with maintaining the center's live tanks and caring for their aquatic inhabitants, which typically include a variety of fish, crabs, turtles and other species native to the Delaware Bay.

The DuPont Nature Center at Mispillion Harbor Reserve is located at 2992 Lighthouse Road, east of Milford. From March 1 to April 30, hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. From May 1 through Aug. 31, hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, closed Mondays. Admission is free and open to the public.
