Del. Offers Turkey Hunt for Youth, Disabled Adults

DOVER, Del. (AP)- A turkey hunt day is planned for youth and non-ambulatory hunters with disabilities.

On Saturday, youth ages 10 through 15 and disabled adults can hunt turkeys on state wildlife areas that are open for hunting during Delaware's regular turkey season. Previously the 1-day hunt was restricted to private property.

All state forest lands that are open during the regular turkey season will be closed for the special hunt. These include Redden State Forest, Blackbird State Forest and Taber State Forest.

All participants must have completed a Delaware-approved turkey hunting safety course. Hunters 13 through 15 must have a valid Delaware junior hunting license and must have completed a hunter education course. Young hunters must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older who is licensed to hunt in Delaware.
