LOUISVILLE, Ky.– Senior shortstop Hannah Mills was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week after a standout performance in Salisbury University's four contests last week, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Mills was named the ECAC South Player of the Week and Capital Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week after going 10-for-13 hitting .769 with two home runs, one triple and five doubles in four games last week. The shortstop smacked home 10 of SU's 51 runs and crossed home six times for a combined 16 maroon and gold runs.
The Parksley, Va., native hit both of her homers against then-No. 21 Christopher Newport, going 7-for-8 against the Captains for a slugging percentage of 2.000. Mills was also perfect in the field with no errors, five assists and two putouts.
Mills is the fourth Sea Gull to be named the national player of the week since the 2009 season.
The Sea Gulls (20-2) have back-to-back doubleheaders scheduled this weekend with one slated for Saturday, April 6 against the University of Mary Washington and the other scheduled for Sunday, April 7 versus Washington College.
