Community Invited to Colonial School District Referendum Mtgs.

Posted:

NEW CASTLE, Del.- The Colonial School District will host several public meetings for residents interested in learning more or helping with the upcoming operational referendum, scheduled for Tuesday, June 4. The referendum vote seeks approval for 35 cents per $100 of assessed property value (not to be confused with market value.)

The June 4 referendum comes on the heels of the failed Feb. 28th attempt seeking 47 cents per $100 of assessed property value.

"We recognize the need to reach out to the community and provide more information regarding the reasons for the referendum and specific amount of monies requested," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dorothy Linn.

Community meetings have been scheduled for 7 p.m. at the following locations in New Castle:

  • Monday, April 22- McCullough Middle School, 20 Chase Ave.
  • Monday, May 13- Gunning Bedford Middle School, 801 Cox Neck Rd.
  • Tuesday, May 28- George Read Middle School
