WLAX: Washington College Ascends to Highest National Ranking in a Dozen Years

GRAND LAKE, Colo.- The Washington College women's lacrosse team has risen to 18th in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Top 20, the team's highest national ranking in over a dozen years.

The Shorewomen are 9-1 this season, with the only blemish on their record thus far coming against the current seventh-ranked team in Division III, Franklin & Marshall. Washington has won each of its other nine games by an average of 8.67 goals per game.

The Shorewomen were ranked 17th in the preseason poll released prior to the start of the 2001 season. Washington's highest-ever national ranking was 16th in the poll released on April 25th, 2000.

This also marks the first time in program history that the Shorewomen have been ranked in the top 20 in three consecutive weeks. They made their season debut in the March 26th poll at No. 20 and remained in that spot in last week's poll, released April 2.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday, with a 4:30 p.m. game at Bryn Mawr.
