Multi-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Sussex County Intersection

Posted: Updated:

MILFORD, Del.- Delaware STate Police said multiple people were injured Friday in an accident involving four vehicles. According to police, officers were called to the scene at approximately 5:40 p.m. at the intersection of Route 113 and Route 14 in Milford.

Police said a 2007 Chevy Impala, operated by Lakota Norwood, 19, of Bridgeville failed to stop at the intersection's red light while she was traveling south bound on Route 113. Subsequently, according to police, Norwood struck a 2013 Chevy Silverado, operated by a 61-year-old Milton man, and then struck a 2011 Honda Pilot, operated by a 44-year-old Milford woman with her two children in the vehicle.

Police said debris from the pickup truck struck a fourth vehicle, operated by a 54-year-old Harrington man. Those injured in the accident were taken to Milford Memorial Hospital, where they were treated and released with non life-threatening injuries.

Norwood was charged with failure to stop at a red light and failure to have insurance identification in possession.

The intersection was closed and traffic was rerouted for approximately 45 minutes as a result of the accident.
