SALISBURY, Md.- Deputies with the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office have arrested a registered sex offender wanted by police in Baltimore for engaging in sexual activity with a minor.

Shariff Omar Harrell, 31, of Salisbury, was located the evening of April 8 and taken into custody by Wicomico sheriff's deputies at the behest of Baltimore authorities.

Police said Harrell was wanted on an arrest warrant that stemmed from an incident in which he allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl in Baltimore back in December.

According to the Maryland Sex Offender Registry, Harrell is a Tier III (high-risk) sex offender who was convicted of second-degree sex offense in 2008.

Following his arrest, Harrell was ordered held in the Wicomico County Detention Center without bond pending transfer to Baltimore City.
