WILLARDS, Md.- Authorities say a 50-year-old Salisbury woman was arrested for drugged driving after she was stopped for traveling in the wrong direction on U.S. Route 50 in eastern Wicomico County.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said that at around 6:40 p.m. Saturday, April 13, a deputy stopped a vehicle, that was later found to be operated by Karen S. Hendrix, heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 50 between Pittsville and Willards.

Police said that prior to the traffic stop, the deputy observed that multiple vehicles had to swerve out of Hendrix's way as she also swerved from lane to lane. Police said that upon stopping Hendrix, the deputy observed that she appeared to be impaired. According to investigators, Hendrix stated that she believed that she was driving on Snow Hill Road, which was nowhere near her location.

Police said that during the ensuing contact, the deputy began to suspect that Hendrix was under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. After being administered sobriety tests, Hendrix was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Police said the deputy also located Xanax and marijuana in Hendrix's possession, which also led to her being charged with possession of CDS.

Following her arrest on the aforementioned charges, Hendrix was ordered held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond.
