SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities have arrested a man accused of robbing a Dollar General store in Salisbury.

Salisbury police said that at around 9:30 a.m. Friday, 36-year-old Paul Michael Latour, of Salisbury entered the store on South Salisbury Boulevard and approached the counter and asked the clerk for cigarettes from another cabinet. Investigators said that when the clerk told Latour the total amount that was due, he made a comment and showed the clerk a handgun.

Police said Latuour then ran off with the items without paying for them. That is when the clerk yelled out she had been robbed and a witness began to follow the suspect, according to police.

The clerk and witness positively identified Latour as the person who committed the robbery and he was taken into custody, according to authorities.

Police said officers recovered a pellet gun from Latour that resembled an actual handgun. No one was injured during the incident.

Latour was charged with armed robbery, robbery, second-degree assault and theft less than $100. He was turned over to the custody of Wicomico Central Booking.
