Delaware Beach Revitalization Announcement

INDIAN RIVER, De.- Some of Delaware's most prominent political leaders say they will announce a major beach revitalization project for the state's coastline on Tuesday.

Governor Markell, Senator Carper, Senator Coons and Congressman Carney are expected to be in attendance for the federal project announcement at the Indian River Inlet Bride.

According to Sen. Carper's office, the announcement will include federal funding for beach construction projects up and down Delaware's coast.

"This is big news for Delaware's beach communities," said a representative from Carper's office. "The construction project will build up the beach and the dunes to protect the homes and businesses from future storms."

The beaches near the Indian River Inlet Bridge are expected to be included in the federal project. Those beaches were flooded during Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
