YORK, Pa. – Wesley College freshman Mason Mendoza has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Golf Rookie of the Year, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Mendoza, as well as seniors Robert Ehrhardt and Clayton Bunting earned First Team All-CAC honors as well.
A native of Dover, Del., Mendoza finished second at the CAC Championship this past weekend with a 150 over two rounds. Mendoza led the tournament after the first round, carding a tournament-best 70 with seven birdies over the first 18 holes. Mendoza is the third Wolverines player to win the Rookie of the Year award, joining Bunting (2010) and Cody Pestun (2012).
Earning First Team honors for the fourth-straight season, Ehrhardt tied for third at this year's CAC Championship after capturing Medalist and Player of the Year honors in 2012. A native of Mechanicsville, Md., Ehrhardt is shooting a CAC-leading 74.9 for the year and has a shot of qualifying individually for the NCAA Championships.
Bunting finished fifth at the 2013 CAC Championships to earn First Team honors for the second time in his career. The Georgetown, Del., product shot a second-round best 72 and also earned Second Team recognition in 2012.
