|GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 20 poll sets up yet another top-10 matchup for the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team, as the organization released its weekly rankings on Tuesday.
The Sea Gulls remain at No. 2 for the 11th-straight poll, as Salisbury (17-0, 6-0 Capital Athletic Conference) looks to capture its 11th-consecutive Capital Athletic Conference championship, and with it an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III women's lacrosse tournament. This week, the Sea Gulls were twice voted the top team in the nation and were awarded 381 points.
Salisbury sits again behind Trinity (Conn.) College, which earned 18 first-place votes and 398 points this week.
The top five is unchanged for the fifth-straight week. At No. 3 is Middlebury College, with 359 points. The State University of New York at Cortland is behind Middlebury, with 341 points. Rounding out the top-five is Gettysburg College, with 321 points.
To continue its dominance within the conference, the Sea Gulls will need to get past the No. 10 team in the rankings, the York (Pa.) College Spartans. Nearly two weeks ago, the Spartans visited Sea Gull Stadium, with Salisbury coming out on top, 16-7.
The two schools will face off this Saturday, May 4, with the CAC crown at stake. This will be the sixth top-10 matchup for the Sea Gulls this season. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m., at Sea Gull Stadium.
