Del. House Eyes Ban on High-Capacity Gun Magazines

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A House committee has sent a gun-control bill banning the sale and possession of high-capacity magazines in Delaware to the full House for consideration.

The bill released by the House Administration Committee after a public hearing Wednesday prohibits the manufacture, sale or purchase of magazines holding more than 10 bullets. The proposal would make possession of a high-capacity magazine illegal in public places when a person also has a gun capable of accepting the magazine.

The measures includes an exception to allow the possession and use of large-capacity magazines at shooting ranges, and supporters say it also would not prevent someone from having a high-capacity magazine at home for self-defense.

The bill carries a misdemeanor penalty for a first offense. Any subsequent violation would be a felony.
