Dagsboro Man Dies in Crash

Posted: Updated:

FRANKFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash near Frankford that claimed the life of a 37-year-old Dagsboro man.

Police said the incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. Friday, as Anthony J. Jacono Jr. was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette northbound on DuPont Boulevard (U.S. 113) north of Daisy Street. Investigators said that as Jacono accelerated northbound from Daisy Street, the car began to fishtail and rotate counterclockwise before traveling into the median where it struck a tree. Police said Jacono, who was not properly restrained, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in this case, according to police. The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into this incident.

U.S. 113 northbound north of Daisy Street was closed for several hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
