Chesapeake College Considering Moving Cambridge Campus

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Chesapeake College's Cambridge Center sits in the heart of downtown, but the college is considering moving its satellite campus to a new location.

"We either need to make some drastic upgrades or move on," said Cambridge Center Director Bob Boeggter.

Boegtter said the campus is outgrowing its location, which makes parking a problem. If the satellite location stays, Chesapeake College said it will need to fix the roof and the building needs a fresh coat of paint and new carpeting.

"We have basically outgrown the building, parking is always a problem and we would just like to find something a little bigger where the building is more adequate for us," said Boeggter.

Just next door is Carol Levy-Ruark's business, A Few of My Favorite Things. She wants the college to stay.

"I guess it all comes down to dollars and cents but I don't want to see them leave," said Levy-Ruark.

If the college moves out, another building would become vacant in downtown Cambridge.

They will either fix it up or move out but it seems the local community would rather see the campus stay, then go.
