Shoremen Finish Up Season Against Top Crews at ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships

WORCESTER, MA -- The Washington College men's rowing team finished its 2012-13 season today racing against some of the top crews in the nation at the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships in Worcester, MA.

The Shoremen's first varsity eight finished fifth of six boats in its heat in 6:14.032 to advance to the third-level final. Michigan won the heat in 5:56.459, Bates was second in 5:57.533, Ithaca third in 5:57.821, Boston College fourth in 6:09.275, and Skidmore sixth in 6:27.701. In the third-level final, the Shoremen took third place among seven boats to place 15th of 19 boats overall in the event. The Shoremen finished the race in 6:11.581, less than one second behind second-place Colby's time of 6:10.801. Coast Guard won the third-level final in 6:08.849, Tufts was fourth in 6:16.985, St. Lawrence fifth in 6:19.325, Hamilton sixth in 6:26.082, and Skidmore seventh in 6:28.045.

The Shoremen's second varsity eight was fifth of five boats in its heat in 6:36.510 to qualify for the third-level final. Michigan won the heat in 6:00.403, Trinity second in 6:03.219, Wesleyan third in 6:08.11, and Colby fourth in 6:28.347. In the third-level final, the Shoremen were third of fourth boats to place 15th of 16 boats overall. Washington's time of 6:44.927 was just over a second behind second-place Hamilton's time of 6:43.913. Coast Guard won the race in 6:35.054, while Tufts was fourth in 6:48.907.

Freshman John Gould (Litchfield, CT/The Gunnery) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's first varsity eight. Junior Anthony Cairo (Port Murray, NJ/Warren Hills) sat stroke, junior Conor Howlett (Tampa, FL/H.B. Plant) was in the seven seat, senior Parker McIntosh (Berlin, MD/Worcester Prep) was in the six seat, freshman Ryan Miranda (Farmington, CT/Farmington) sat in the five seat, freshman Mark Boissonneault (Bowie, MD/DeMatha) was in the four seat, freshman T. Ian Flinn (Marlton, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) sat in the three seat, freshman Sean Haynie(Hampstead, MD/Calvert Hall) was in the two seat, and junior Rob Billings (Easton, MD/Easton) was the bow. 

Junior Chris Moylan (Silver Spring, MD/DeMatha) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's second varsity eight. Junior Chris Carrara (Leesburg, NJ/Millville) sat stroke, senior Jeff Nutting (Catonsville, MD/Mount St. Joseph) was in the seven seat, freshman Kenny Evans (McLean, VA/Bishop O'Connell) was in the six seat, sophomore Jack Christ (Hydes, MD/Jemicy Upper School) sat in the five seat, sophomore Ben Sproule(Princeton, NJ/Princeton) was in the four seat, junior Max Villa (Great Meadows, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was in the three seat, freshman Max van Hoven (Reisterstown, MD/Calvert Hall) sat in the two seat, and junior Dominic DiMarino (Wilmington, DE/Concord) was the bow.
