WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Fire officials say one person jumped to safety after a fire broke out at a Wilmington apartment building.

The fire was reported around 1 a.m. Monday at the building on North Claymont Street. One resident jumped from the second floor to escape the blaze, but was not hurt.

It took about three dozen firefighters an hour to control the fire and officials say no one was injured.

City Battalion Chief Michael Schaal says 10 residents were displaced by the fire and one is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
