LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Maryland softball's Lindsey Schmeiser was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team Thursday. The rookie shortstop is the 15th Terrapin to earn All-Region honors under head coach Laura Watten.
Schmeiser was voted ACC Freshman of the Year by the league's head coaches last week and also represented the Terps on the 10-member All-ACC First Team.
A native of Dunkirk, Md., Schmeiser leads the ACC in RBI with 59 and set the school record for most RBI in a season. Schmeiser currently ranks in the top 10 in batting average (.347), runs scored (52), total bases (106), slugging percentage (.721), triples (4), on-base percentage (.443), and home runs (12).
The Terps (31-26, 13-8 ACC) finished third in the ACC and set a school record for most ACC wins in a season with 13. As a team, the Terrapins set school records for runs scored (348) and RBI (304).
