MIDDLETOWN, Del. (WBOC/AP)- Officials say a 22-year-old Delaware State University football player from Maryland was seriously injured in a crash with a box truck and a tour bus in Middletown.

Delaware State Police say a car driven by Jadira I. Green of Fort Washington, Md., was stopped with its lights out on in the left travel lane of Route 1 around 4 a.m. Thursday when it was rear-ended by a box truck and then hit by a tour bus.

Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack said Green was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to Christiana Hospital in serious condition.

DSU Coach Kermit Blount said in a statement, "The Delaware State University family continues to keep Jadira and his family in our thoughts and prayers as he recovers from the accident. He is a valuable member of our football program; but our concern right now is for his well-being. We remain in touch with Jadira's family to offer whatever support is needed during his recovery."

Shavack said the other drivers were not injured and there were no passengers on the bus.
