DOVER, Del. - Members of the legislature's budget writing committee are continuing their work revising Gov. Jack Markell's budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Joint Finance Committee will reconvene Tuesday in Dover to resume the budget markup process.
Committee members already have made several additions to Markell's $3.7 billion spending plan, including adding millions of dollars for schools and court security.
Markell's budget proposal includes about $7 million for new initiatives, including $3.3 million to expand mental health services in public schools and $2.2 million for after-school and summer programs to keep at-risk youth out of trouble.
Lawmakers must pass a budget before the new fiscal year begins July 1.
