OCEAN CITY, Md.- The town of Ocean City saw a 15 percent drop in visitors this Memorial Day weekend, according to Jessica Waters, a resort spokesperson.

Demoflush, a method that calculates the number of visitors based on the amount of sewage produced, shows 231,000 people spent the weekend at the beach. That is down from approximately 280,000 visitors last Memorial Day weekend, Waters said.

The drop in visitors can be attributed to several factors, according to Waters. She said this year's holiday came a full week earlier than last year's and the weather was chillier than in years past.
