Wicomico Co. to Hike Costs of Certain Services

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Wicomico County says restaurant inspections, building permits and some other health department services are about to get more expensive.

The fee hike goes into effect July 1 and was approved by a 4-3 County Council vote. Many of the fees haven't been raised for seven years.

The cost increase includes services such as a public pool license, septic installations and permits for wells, buildings and sewage disposal systems.

County Council President Matt Holloway, who voted in favor of the fee increase, said the state has "sent down unfunded mandates time and again" and that the increases seem fair for users of the services.
