Police Search for Suspect in Lewes Armed Robbery

LEWES, Del.- Delaware State Police on Monday released surveillance photos of a weekend armed robbery that occurred at the DOT Discount Cigarette store on John J. Williams Highway in Lewes. 

Police said that at around 7 p.m. Saturday, a male suspect entered the store, approached an employee and demanded money from the cash register. 

Authorities said that as the 55-year-old woman complied with the suspect's demands and opened the till, the man pulled a knife from the front pouch of his sweatshirt and held it up to the woman while he removed the money.  

The suspect then ran out of the store and was last seen headed in a westerly direction. The employee was not hurt in the incident.
 
According to police, the suspect was additionally described as white, 23-30 years of age, between 6-foot and 6-foot-2, 170-190 pounds, average build, wearing a dark baseball cap, gray hooded sweatshirt with Philadelphia Eagles logo across the front, tan khaki pants and dark shoes. He was armed with a knife.
