SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities say a woman had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment of burns she received in a fire that occurred over the weekend at a Salisbury home.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze broke out shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday at a one-and-a-half story home located at 401 S. Park Drive.

Fifteen firefighters from all three city fire stations responded to the scene and quickly got the fire under control, investigators said.

Authorities said the homeowner, a 58-year-old woman, sustained second-degree burns while attempting to extinguish the fire. She was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center by Salisbury EMS for treatment.

The fire caused an estimated $1,000 in damage to the home and another $500 in damage to its contents.

Investigators determined the fire started in a second floor bedroom. They are still searching for the cause.
