DOVER, Del. (AP)- Delaware State Police say a body found in the Christina River under the Christiana Bypass has been identified as that of an itinerant North Carolina man.
Authorities said Friday that the identification of 43-year-old Jonathan K. Sheriff was made with fingerprints obtained from the decomposing remains.
Authorities described Sheriff as a transient whose last known address was Burlington, N.C.
State Police said an autopsy revealed no apparent trauma or evidence of foul play, but that the cause and manner of death is still under investigation.
Sheriff's body was found Tuesday by an industrial painting crew working under the elevated section of the bypass.
