Man Held Without Bond in Cecil County Girl's Death
Richard E. Madden
ELKTON, Md. (AP) - A man charged with the rape and murder of a 10-year-old Cecil County girl has been ordered held without bond following a bail review hearing.
Friday's bail hearing means 29-year-old Richard E. Madden Jr. will remain in custody on charges of assaulting and killing Kami Ring.
Madden is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 12.
Authorities say Ring died of blunt force trauma and asphyxia. Her body was found Monday evening in a field near a Port Deposit home where she'd been staying with a couple whom she considered her grandparents, even though they were not biologically related to the child. Madden is the couple's son.
